Editorial Policy
Practical Upwork advice is worth almost nothing if you can't tell who wrote it, when, and whether anyone fact-checked it. This is how we work.
Who writes
Every post on the Upwex blog carries a named author with a bio, credentials line, and public profile. Authors are members of the team that runs the Upwork agency Upwex is built around. No ghostwritten guest content, no AI-only posts, no anonymous bylines. See the authors page.
How we use AI
AI is part of the drafting workflow - it helps with outlining, restructuring, and copy editing. It does not write a post end-to-end and never bypasses human review. Every paragraph that ships has been read, edited, and signed off by the named author. Where AI touched copy meaningfully, the post header carries an "AI-assisted" disclosure.
Sources and citations
- Numbers cite a real source whenever one exists (Upwork official docs, public benchmarks from named third parties, our own backend logs).
- When a common claim is uncited, we mark it clearly. We do not fabricate stats, reply rates, ratings, or review counts.
- We link out to the original source instead of paraphrasing through several intermediaries.
Fact-checking and dating
Every published post displays a publication date. Every post we re-verify in production gets
a "Last updated" date stamped from the lastFactChecked field - visible in the
byline and in the Article schema's dateModified. We re-verify high-traffic posts
quarterly and mark them updated when something material changes.
When we get something wrong
Posts are corrected in place. If the correction is material (number off by more than ~10%,
claim retracted, recommendation reversed), we add a visible correction note at the top of
the post and bump the lastFactChecked date. We do not silently rewrite old
posts.
Affiliate and commercial disclosure
Upwex sells subscriptions. Posts about Upwex features are marketing - we do not hide that. When we recommend third-party tools, we say so plainly; we do not take affiliate kickbacks or paid placements. If that ever changes, this page changes first.
