When you open any Upwork freelancer profile page, a small Upwex widget appears. If it's your active profile - the button reads "Update Profile". If it's a different one of your profiles - "Sync Profile". One click does it.
By URL paste (manual)
In the popup, open the manual sync field, paste any of your upwork.com/freelancers/~... URLs, hit sync. Useful for syncing alt profiles or re-syncing without leaving the dashboard.

Does Upwex see my Upwork password?
No. Profile Sync runs inside your browser - the extension reads your already-logged-in Upwork page (the /freelancers/~... URL). Your password never leaves Upwork. Upwex only stores the extracted profile fields (skills, portfolio descriptions, hourly rate, location) in your own Upwex account.
How do I sync my Upwork profile to Upwex?
Three ways, pick whatever's open. (1) From the Upwex popup: click Sync Profile and the extension auto-detects your active Upwork profile tab. (2) On the Upwork profile page itself: a Sync button appears inline. (3) By URL: paste any /freelancers/~... URL into Upwex Settings and it pulls remotely. All three produce the same result.
What's the difference between syncing and "making active"?
Syncing is the one-time import - it pulls the profile data into your Upwex account. Making one of multiple synced profiles "active" is the runtime switch - it tells Upwex which one to use when you click Generate Cover Letter on a job. Most freelancers have 2-3 profiles (e.g. dev + design) synced and toggle between them per niche.
How often should I re-sync my Upwork profile?
Whenever you change something on Upwork that matters to AI generations - new portfolio item, updated hourly rate, added skill, changed bio. One-click resync from the popup; the freshness signal flows downstream immediately, so the next cover letter or Check Fit uses the new context.
Can I sync someone else's Upwork profile?
By URL, yes - paste their /freelancers/~... URL into Upwex Settings. Useful for agency owners syncing each rep's profile into the shared workspace. The popup/inline-button flows are scoped to the profile you're currently viewing on Upwork, since they read the loaded page.
What if Upwork changes its profile layout?
Upwex detects each field by purpose, not by static CSS selectors. When Upwork ships a layout change, the extension still finds skills, portfolio items, hourly rate, location, availability. We monitor Upwork rollouts and patch the field detection within hours if anything actually breaks.
How do I delete my synced Upwork profile?
